TASTING NOTES

Sancaba deriva dall'acronimo della località d'origine San Casciano dei Bagni, scelta da Carlo Franchetti dove trovò un vigneto di Pinot Nero piantato dal precedente proprietario. Sancaba è costituito da uve 100% Pinot Nero, con vigne coltivate in regime biologico con l'utilizzo di soli trattamenti in rame e zolfo. Le uve fermentano per 10 giorni in vasca d'acciaio e in parte in botti grandi di legno. Affinamento in botte grande e barriques di secondo passaggio, successivamente segue un affinamento in vasche di cemento. Di colore rosso rubino intenso al calice, sprigiona all'olfatto profumi di piccoli frutti di bosco, fiori di montagna, grafite e note speziate. Il sorso è elegante e profondo, dai tannini setosi. Sancaba

The name of the winery derives from the acronym of the locality chosen by Carlo Franchetti (cousin and for years right-hand man of Andrea Franchetti the visionary of the Etna wine districts), San Casciano dei Bagni in the extreme south of the province of Siena a few kilometres from Lake Bolsena and the border between Lazio and Umbria. Incredible work in the vineyard and in the selection of the Pinot Noir clones best suited to the soil and climatic conditions allowed Carlo to create a small oenological masterpiece focused on Pinot Noir.
