TASTING NOTES

Soave is one of the best-known Italian whites in the world, and this fame is largely due to the efforts and sacrifices of the Pieropan family. The winery was founded back in 1880 by Leonildo Pieropan. It is now managed by his grandson, also called Leonildo, helped by the untiring Teresita. The current Leonildo has always believed strongly in the land, even in the most difficult of times, and has indeed succeeded in making the company’s wines among the most popular and famous of the designation. Location, tradition, and quality are the three key words of their philosophy. With vineyards transitioning to organic farming, the most renowned of which being Calvarino and La Rocca, they now produce more than 500,000 bottles with an unmistakable character, where the mineral notes of the volcanic soil stand out and enrich the fruit notes of the Garganega, a native variety of the area. Soave Classico La Rocca by Pieropan is a Venetian white wine produced exclusively from Garganega grapes, cultivated in volcanic soils at an altitude of between 200 and 300 metres and sourced from the vineyard of the same name, situated at the foot of the castle in the town of Soave. The double-pass harvest takes place at the end of October to obtain the ripest bunches of grapes. This is followed by vinification and ageing on the fine lees in large barrels for at least one year. The wine is then allowed to rest in the bottle for several months. In the glass, this wine is a golden yellow, and on the nose, notes of ripe yellow fruit, tropical fruit, and sweet citrus emerge. The wine has a spicy finish. On the palate, it is elegant and full-bodied with a perfect balance between soft and austere notes. An excellent wine with great versatility, it is ideal for an aperitif for those who like wines with an impressive aromatic complexity or for pairing with white meats and vegetarian dishes. THE WINERY

Pieropan

The history of the Pieropan winery is long and very interesting: it has been going on for more than a century in the name of quality viticulture and love for the Veneto region. The company is located, specifically, in the heart of the medieval town of Soave. Here, in the historic Palazzo Pullici, four generations of the Pieropan family have handed down the family secrets for growing and the production of grapes and excellent Veneto wines that represent the best of the territory and its history. A great knowledge of the soil and raw materials was combined with a great passion and in-depth study of the subject matter, always keeping up to date. A strong entrepreneurial spirit has done the rest, and thanks to all these elements the company has succeeded in the delicate task of representing one of the most interesting realities of the Veneto region without ever losing its traditional imprint, while always keeping up with the times. Growing of grapes, pressing, vinification and bottling all take place on site, resulting in a final product that has followed each step meticulously and is ready to surprise you. Name and address of producer/distributor: Pieropan - Via Giulio Camuzzoni, 3, 37038 Soave (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
