A history of passion and tradition has always set this family business apart. Azienda Tre Monti has handed down the secrets of Romagna’s viticulture from generation to generation, with the aim of creating Emilia-Romagna wines of the highest quality. The vineyards of Sangiovese di Romagna Riserva Oriolo Petrignone are located on the Petrignone farm in Vigna dei Fichi, at around 150 metres above sea level. The soil in which these vines grow is clay-rich and sandy with pebbles, producing wines with a firmly structured character. Vineyard planting started in 1968, representing the first of the winery’s Sangiovese reserves. The grapes are harvested manually between the end of September and the first few days of October. When they reach the winery, the grapes are macerated for 12 days on the skins followed by alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel and vitrified cement. It is aged in third-use barriques for six months. Ruby red in colour with bright, intense reflections, the aromas that emerge from this wine are broad and reminiscent of ripe red-fleshed fruit, juicy black cherries, and spicy hints of black pepper in the finish. In the mouth, it is elegant, embracing and pleasantly tannic with a good length which heightens its drinkability. It is ideal for pairing with dishes based on cuts of red meat cooked on the grill or with fresh pasta served with traditional Romagna sauces. Perfect when tasting typical Romagna cuisine with its really authentic flavours.
