Tra l'altitudine e i terreni lavici dell'Etna ,nasce l'Etna rosso Euzione 1614 dell'azienda Planeta, una giovane cantina che dal 1995 ha saputo ben presto posizionarsi tra le realtà vinicole più importanti della Sicilia . 1614 è la data che ricorda l’eruzione più lunga dell’Etna, durata quasi 10 anni e che si è arrestata proprio qui, nella contrada di Sciaranuova, oggi visitabile con anche le sue abitazioni storiche. Siamo nel versante nord dell’Etna, in un terroir scuro, ricco di colate laviche tutte diverse tra loro ogni cm che ci si sposta ,cenere e sostanza organica ad arricchire il suolo . Arriviamo fino a 800 metri sopra il livello del mare di altitudine .Questo nerello mascalese in purezza è un vero e proprio Cru. Fermentazione in acciaio, sosta sulle fecce per 21 giorni , svinatura e affinamento in botte di rovere per 12 mesi: sono il segreto per la vinificazione di un vino che evolve e stupisce nel tempo. Alla vista un rosso luminoso, accompagnato a profumate note di ibiscus, ribes, quell’accattivate finocchietto selvatico che in bocca esplode in carattere e personalità con tannino deciso ma rispettoso e piccoli frutti rossi che smussano l’impervia di un sorso lavico. Feudo di Mezzo stands out against Etna, in Castiglione di Sicilia, while the work of La Baronia remains in the Capo Milazzo area.
