Since the 1960s, love for one's roots, culture as a continuous exchange, constant research, curiosity, the willingness to innovate and modernise and the passion for one's work are the values that have sustained the Cotarella family company. In the 80s, the wine-making brothers Renzo and Riccardo founded the Falesco winery in Montefiascone to recover the ancient vines, then paying particular attention also to the international one they found in the area between Lazio and Umbria, a favourable soil and climatic situation structured on volcanic hills. This is how Montiano was created, a wine of extraordinary elegance, of great concentration and structure that comes to life from a specific Merlot clone. Produced from grapes that reach an excellent level of maturation from low production vineyards and harvested in early September. Once in the winery, the grapes are subjected to a manual selection, allowing for only the best grapes to continue fermentation. The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barriques and ages for 12 months in new French oak barriques. Its colour is a deep ruby red. The aromatic range that opens ranges from small red berry fruits, to jam, sweet spices and a vanilla finish. On the palate, it is round, soft and full, warm, intense and persistent, perfect if drunk in large balloon glasses and paired with gourmet meat-based dishes.
