TASTING NOTES

I due cru di Friulano de I Clivi trovano dimora su due distinti vigneti, distanti pochi chilometri uno dall’altro, che ricadono in due diverse zone a denominazione di origine e anche in due distinte province, nel Collio Goriziano l’uno e nei Colli Orientali del Friuli l’altro, per una superficie totale di 12 ettari. Questi due vigneti portano i nomi rispettivamente di Brazan e Galea e affondano le loro radici su suoli la cui componente geologica è praticamente identica, ed è quindi il microclima, legato principalmente ai venti, ad essere il fattore determinante nelle differenze di personalità percepibili nei vini. Il Brazan proviene da vigne vecchie 80 anni. Analogamente al Galea, segue una filiera che ha luogo interamente in acciaio, con una sosta di 18 mesi sulle fecce fini, nei quali il vino bianco si arricchisce delle componenti aromatiche e gustative. Il colore brillante, i profumi di fiori di campo, anice e pompelmo rosa, che cedono il passo a marcati sentori balsamici, il palato polposo ma sostenuto da una sapidità che rilancia lo sviluppo in bocca, fanno del Brazan un Friulano di grande spessore. LA CANTINA

I Clivi

Very old and mostly indigenous vines are to be found in the vineyards of i Clivi, a point of reference in the production of Ribolla Gialla in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Most are between 40 and 60 years old, but in some plots there are specimens not far from a century old. Sinking their roots into sandstone soil, they have a low yield per hectare, which guarantees the natural concentration and complexity of their fruit. Guarding such an important heritage, the Zanusso family has made territoriality and longevity the keywords of its business since 1996. The property's twelve hectares are divided into two DOC zones with different microclimates and are cultivated with different varieties: Ribolla Gialla, Friulano, Verduzzo and Malvasia. In the I Clivi winery, the grapes are processed avoiding the use of machinery as much as possible in order to preserve their integrity and uniqueness. The result of such finesse are white wines and sparkling wines with great personality and character, yet at the same time as light as a caress for the palate.
